CARJ AGM 2016

5th November 2016 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Identity, Equality and Community: A Time for Reflection and Discernment

The CARJ Annual General Meeting will take place on 5 November 2016 at St Thomas More Church, 9 Henry Rd, London N4 2LH (11:00 – 4:00). The business meeting will be followed by Mass, lunch, and keynote speaker leading into our discussion the theme of the day.

The BREXIT Referendum has highlighted some of the serious divisions in our society. These divisions are set against the background of continuing turmoil in the middle east and vast numbers seeking refuge or simply a better life in Europe and the UK. Here at home the gap between the rich and the poor is increasing, many feel left behind, minorities continue to experience discrimination and disadvantage, and there is a recent spike in hate crime. In the face of this complex local and global challenge, we in CARJ feel it is an appropriate time for reflection and discernment.

Keynote Speaker: Fr Frank Turner SJ
Fellow in Political Theology at Campion Hall, Oxford and formerly at the Jesuit Office for the European Union in Brussells

Followed by a Panel and Plenary Discussion

CARJ is taking these months as a period of reflection and discernment on how we are called to work in the current national, European and world context. A background discussion paper on the theme is available from CARJ.
