A cry from the heart to fellow Church leaders
From Bishop Lenford Rowe Chair – Synergy Network
Every lost young life has deeply saddened us, but we are moved to write this letter now in
the light of last week’s shocking death of 15 year old Elianne Andam in Croydon. We believe
Elianne’s blood cries out to us to urge one another to increase our prayer and action.
The words of Jeremiah 31.15 express the pain so many parents are feeling: “This is what
the LORD says: “A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for
her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more”
And so this letter comes to you as a cry from the heart of the Synergy leaders to our fellow
Church leaders. We urge the Church to
• Step forward to help broken communities both lament and find hope;
• Step out to seek to connect more intentionally with young people;
• Step up our commitment to prayer and intercession that God would heal our broken
communities;
We believe we need a pan-Church and pan-London response, and so the Synergy board
warmly invite you to a meeting at 11am on Thursday 5th October at St. Mark’s Church,
Kennington (the large Church immediately opposite Oval tube station) to encourage one
another in seeking how we can lead our Churches in responding to this most heartbreaking
issue
Yours faithfully,
Bishop Lenford Row
