Finding Homes for Black Children in Care

An evening with Dr Pearl Jarrett

Throughout June, Home for Good are hosting a series of evenings with Dr Pearl Jarrett – multi-award winning businesswoman, philanthropist, speaker, actor, singer on unpacking racial disparity in the care system and exploring what local church communities can do to seek justice and find homes for Black children in care.

Every child is created with intrinsic worth and value; every child deserves a stable place to call home with people around them who will support and care for them. Black children are disproportionately represented in the UK care system. They are among those who wait the longest for the right home to be found for them.

While Black children make up 5% of the general population, they make up 7% of the looked after children population. Black children are then less likely to go on to be adopted and wait longer to find their adoptive family.

Upcoming event dates:

  • Bristol (17 June 2023)
  • North London (24 June 2023)
