Governors for Faith Schools
Invitation to an event on Wed 1st March 2023 at 12.30pm
Governors for Schools supports schools across England and Wales to run effectively by finding high calibre governors to bring their skills and expertise to the table – and improve education for children. They currently have over 400 foundation vacancies within Church of England Schools and Catholic Schools across England and we are keen to encourage more people of these faiths to consider undertaking the role.
The role of a faith school governor is to preserve the schools religious character, support and challenge senior leadership, ensuring accountability and overseeing how money is spent. The role is strategic, rather than operational, and provides the opportunity to see how schools are run and make a real impact on children’s educational outcomes. As a board-level role, volunteers also gain leadership experience and develop skills they can bring back to work.
On 12.30pm on Wednesday 1st March 2023 they are holding an online event for those within the Church of England and Catholic faiths to find out more about getting involved in governance for a faith school. Attendees will hear from current foundation governors to learn about their motivations for volunteering, the impact they make on young people’s lives, and how they’ve developed new skills through the role. This online event will also cover the core responsibilities of a faith school governor, the benefits of undertaking the role, and the time commitment required.
The event is open to all members of the Church of England and Catholic faith. I have prepared and attached a full range of communications you can use to promote the event.
