CARJ Christmas 2020 Appeal – December 2020
Dear Friends of CARJ
As Christmas approaches, I’m writing to ask you to consider making a donation to the work of CARJ. This has been a very strange and difficult year – with the pandemic, the killing of George Floyd, Black Lives Matter, the Grenfell Inquiry, the Windrush Inquiry – some developments tragic and others hopeful. We continue our work in support of:
Minority ethnic communities suffering discrimination and disadvantage in education, health, housing, employment and criminal justice
Schools, families and young people in marginalised communities
Migrants, refugees, victims of trafficking and EU citizens after Brexit
Muslim communities in the face of Islamophobia
Jewish communities in the face of Antisemitism
Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities
Victims of caste discrimination in the UK
In all this, we work with others, from diverse backgrounds and beliefs, to read the signs of the times and to discern how we might address together the local, national and global challenges we all face.
Our work has increased exponentially this year – responding to requests for advice and support. We’ve been delivering training via zoom sessions and we’re preparing more – for schools, parishes, Catholic organisations and seminaries. Although the work of CARJ is more important than ever, some of our traditional funding is no longer available. So, we are coming to you at Christmas to ask you to remember us with a financial donation.
